Reference is made to risk and how organisations can minimise this threat through the use of distributed knowledge. Some theoretical background is provided, which conceptualises intellectual capital and enables the relationship between this form of capital and knowledge management to be characterised. From this theoretical grounding the paper goes on to explore and explain the development of a system aimed at conserving intellectual capital.
